Finally I have a bit of a quite morning so thought I would get this in before the Opening Ceremony tonight.

Last night we finished the last of the team welcome ceremonies with Team USA at 8PM. The welcome ceremonies were a lot of fun to produce as we got to see every country come to the athlete village. Sandra Oh from Grey's Anatomy was our host and she was very nice and a great host with lots of energy. Below are some pics of the wrap-up party on the stage.

Me, Larry Ganson (Technical Director, LA), Christy Nicolay (VP sport Production, LA), Sandra Oh, Patrick (DJ, Studio City)

Me and Sandra Oh

Me and the Olympic Mascots, Quatchi (not even sure what he is) and Miga (not sure what she is either but they are pretty funny).

The great thing about working these events is that not only are the athletes from all over the world but so are the crew members and personnel. It's been really fun to meet and work with people from all over the world. Below are pictures of me with Keith (Panasonic, Dover, England) in front of the Path of Nations at the Olympic Village (basically a walkway of all the flags of every country competing in the Games) and Liam (Rio, Brasil) one of the drummers that was part of the entertainment crew at the welcome ceremonies.

Oh yeah, and Canadians! Below, Byron and I with his Quatchi backpack. Byron actually worked at Amgen in Westlake and then somehow got into production at the X Games. Not sure how he made that switch but he is really nice and quite the character! And he used to live in Westlake Village, small world!

After production, Dan "Panda" Valdivia and I backstage. It's finally cold in Vancouver! Panda works all of the UCLA basketball games and football games with me back home.

To prove it's cold...I have been using my mittens that Jason and Steph got me for Christmas. They have been keeping me warm and I can still use my hands to work. I can't believe there is someone more clever than I that came up with these things. haha, just kidding!

Okay, I think that's all for now. Got to go. I'll try to post again soon!

  1. Now we're talking. You look cold and have a giant puffy jacket! I didn't think you would be hanging with the celebrities, very cool!

  2. Fabulous pics. You look great in your winter clothes and headset. I love Quatchi the mascot. I wondered if you would see any celebs. Sandra seems like she would be very nice and that is a good pic with her. Very exciting posting - don't know where you are finding time to post anything but so glad you are fitting it in. Love Mom
